The red and white were deliciously light and we would never have guessed they were any different from a full calorie alternative

Italian eatery Prezzo has created a new lighter menu for ladies (and men) who like to dine on the lighter side. Closer Online were asked to try out the menu so we could tell you if it’s worth a trip or not!

The menu, albeit small, feature Italian staples pasta and pizza, plus light calorie white, Garganega Veronese ,Veneto, and red, Rosso Veronese ,Veneto, wines!

Both the red and white were deliciously light and we would never have guessed they were any different from a full calorie alternative. A small (175ml) of each is only 116 calories and costs £4.55.

And it has a lower alcohol content than the average wine with a ABV of 9.5% - which means you can have a few at lunch without needing a nap afterwards!

We chose between the four pizzas and four pastas on offer, all of which sounded very delectable.

We opted for tiger prawns with asparagus flat breat pizza with spinach, diced red onion, mozzarella, tomato flat bread pizza (£8.95) and Penne Amelia with chargrilled artichokes, courgettes, marinated olives, red onions, sun dried tomatoes, garlic and green pesto (£8.50).

The lighter menu promises that neither of these dishes, or any on its menu, will be over 650 calories – not bad for a tasty main meal.

The flatbread has less cheese than your average pizza and is a long thin shape as opposed to the traditional round.

It was, in fact, a perfect size for one and ideal for enjoying lunch out without feeling stuffed to the brim on your exit. The base was lovely and crunchy as a normal stone baked pizza with adequate toppings.

The pasta was also a daintier portion than you would expect from a restaurant portion, but certainly didn’t lack in taste!

Moist and filled with vegetables, it left us not only happy we’d saved on calories but we felt like we’d contributed to our five a day also.

Each meal comes with a mixed salad of roasted peppers, marinated olives, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, red onion, mixed leaves and a low calorie sundried tomato and balsamic dressing. Which compliments both meals perfectly.

Just over half the dishes are vegetarian, so if you're a big carnivore you may need to ask for some extra meat to be added.

Prezzo’s new menu is great for those who want to keep the pounds at bay and for anyone who simply feels like a smaller portion. We certainly recommend!
