Carl Thompson, who weighed 65 stone, was found dead inside his flat in Dover, Kent, on Monday.
It took firefighters and police officers several hours to remove the 33-year-old’s body.
A police spokesman said: “Kent Police were called at 10.38am to a property in Dofras Place, Dover, following reports that a man in his 30s had died.
“Officers do not believe the death to be suspicious. The coroner will be notified.”
Just a few weeks before his death, Carl had given a live TV interview from his bed with Dr Dawn Harper and Phillip Schofield from This Morning.
During the interview, Carl explained that his 10,000 calorie-a-day diet had left him unable to leave his own home, with doctors warning him that he would die if he did not take drastic action.
Phillip asked him: "Are you in denial?"
Carl said: "Yes and no really.
"I have not overcome my mum’s death even now. It hit me hard and I did put more weight on."
Now, following news of Carl’s death, Phillip has taken to Twitter to pay his respects.
He wrote: “So sad, I'd hoped we might have been in time to help.”
Phil added: “Inevitable… but such a terrible shame.”
Dr Dawn, who previously said that people were “killing Carl with kindness”, also paid her respects on Twitter.
She wrote: “Very recently I visited Britain's Fattest Man.
“I just heard he lost his battle last night.”
She finished: “A tragic story. Just 32 & he's gone. How sad.” Our thoughts are with Carl Thompson’s family at this time.
