The 27 year-old actress, who spent time on a psychiatric ward in 2009 after she suffered a breakdown, has admitted she still suffers from the mental illness.
Speaking about the period which led her to being sectioned, she has told a UK magazine: ‘It was one thing after another and it led to a pretty reasonable breakdown. I suffer from depression.’
Mischa’s personal life was closely scrutinised in the period that led to her eventual breakdown. In 2008, the actress was charged with marijuana possession and driving under the influence, checking into rehab soon after.

But Mischa has since put her past behind her: ‘That stuff happened so long ago it, it’s irrelevant… it seems silly to talk about it. It’s just a natural progression in life. I’ve grown.’
In terms of her depression, Mischa said she feels much stronger now: ‘As you get older, things just calm down. I’m probably one of the happiest people and my outlook on life is positive,’ she revealed.
Mischa, who now lives in London and is dating actor Sebastian Knapp, credits her friends and family for keeping her strong throughout her darker moments.

‘I’ve always had a great support network around me,’ she said, adding: ‘Having people who love you is more important than anything, whether the public is busy loving you or not at the moment. I have stayed relatively strong because I’ve got these people.’
Her advice? ‘Be cautious of the people around you.’
