Millie Mackintosh shared a #hotlegs selfie during a recent holiday in Marrakech, but she wasn’t prepared for the furore after Instagram followers spotted some stray hairs on her pins.

One fan wrote angrily: "Who the hell doesn't shave the top of their legs? Ew! Especially women with dark hair. If you do it properly, it doesn't come back as bad as you think it does. Nobody wants to see a woman with hair legs."

Another follower commented: "Why are your legs so hairy?"

Millie retweeted a comment that defended her female fuzz.

The tweet read: “It's laughable that people feel the need comment on @millsmackintosh's Instagram about her 'hairy legs' what happened to female empowerment?"

Her fans quickly backed her, with one writing: “I never noticed how sad people are picking the girl to pieces silly little trolls.”

Another responded: “Fluffy blonde thigh hair is a million times better than thick stubble any day”

This is not the first time that female body hair has caused controversy.

Julia Roberts was once snapped with long armpit stubble and was slammed for letting her body hair grow.
