Miley Cyrus on her split with Liam Hemsworth ‘I was so scared of being alone… Now I feel like I can actually be happy.’

Miley Cyrus has revealed in an interview with US chat show host Barbara Walters that she felt she got engaged too young and stayed with ex-fiance Liam Hemsworth out of fear of being alone.

The controversial popstar said: ‘I was so scared of ever being alone. I think that conquering that fear this year was actually bigger than any other transition I had this entire year.’

Miley hinted that she was unable feel like herself towards the end of her engagement.

She continued: ‘I don’t want to ever need someone again where you feel like without them you can never be yourself.’

In the interview, the former Disney star suggested that she had gotten engaged too young but felt no regrets.

She said: ‘I don't think I realized what 19 truly is, and I got engaged at 19, and I definitely wouldn't change being engaged. It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years.’

Miley went on to say that she is more content in herself now she is single, saying: ‘Now I feel like I can actually be happy.’

No longer in fear of being alone, Miley now relishes having some quiet time to herself.

‘I wait for those moments of silence when I’m at my house by myself.’

The chat show veteran then asked her if she would consider falling in love again and getting married to which Miley answered: ‘I’ll want that in the time when it needs to be.’
