The Miley/ Liam rumour mill went into overdrive over the weekend, when a pair of Brady eyes spotted that Miley had unfollowed her fiancé on Twitter.

And representatives for the couple last night confirmed that they have decided to part ways.

The couple first met on set of film The Last Song in 2009, and had been dating on and off for the past four years.

When Liam proposed with an impressive 3.5 carat diamond ring last summer, the Hannah Montana actress was overjoyed, gushing:

'I'm so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam.'

But rumours of a rift soon surfaced, with Liam reportedly unhappy with the 20-year-old's new image.

And Miley was tellingly spotted without her engagement ring in March, whilst Liam was filming in Australia.

However things appeared to be looking up in July, and the couple reunited.

Liam, 23, was then said to be 'mortified' by the former child star's infamous twerking incident at the VMAs, which appears to have been the nail in the coffin.

However sources have told a US website, that it was in fact Liam’s ‘lack of support’, that led Miley to leave him.

‘Miley’s all about empowerment and having a strong sexy image, so being with a guy that’s not willing to be there for her publicly and stand by her looks really bad,’ a source explained.

‘Miley’s telling everyone it’s over for good this time. She’s been trying for so long to fix things with Liam but it just doesn’t seem like Liam’s willing to fight for her and she doesn’t see why she should be the one putting in all the effort,” the source continues. “They fight so much and it’s been taking a huge toll on her, all the drama and the negativity is not good for her health. And it’s terrible for her career!’

Oh dear.
