During the show last night she tweeted: 'Why do actresses have ridiculous lip jobs done???'
She continued: 'Watched Easties tonight!! Was shocked! Big lips just seem to take over the screen! Too distracting!'
Michelle was subjected to abuse on Twitter after followers suspected she was referring to new castmember Kierston Wareing, who plays Kirsty Branning, and accused her of 'bullying' the actress.
The 50 year-old Corrie star defended her tweet as purely an 'observation.'
She wrote on her Twitter page: 'No bitching please! An observation that’s all! Strange now who’s doing the bullying!!??? No more tweeting for me!'
The single mother went on to declare that she was against cosmetic surgery, particularly in young women.
She wrote: 'There are young girls of 18 and even younger having cosmetic surgery do you think that's right ?????'
Michelle was quick to clarify her support of fellow soap actress Kierston, praising her former work and insisting that her comments were not necessarily directed at her.
Referring to Keirston, she wrote: 'She is a very good actress, indeed particularly Fishtank!'
She added: 'You all have the wrong end of the stick ! Never even said who it was ! And you are all wrong anyway ! Inane comments in future.'
'I do not tolerate bullying !!! If I ve offended then I m sorry people shouldn't make assumptions though,' she said.
Later, Michelle’s daughter Maia claimed the backlash her mum received had made the actress 'upset.'
Writing on her mum's account, she asked followers to direct any 'nasty comments' about her mum to her.
Defending her mother, Maia wrote: 'Michelle is a single mother who works from 7am to 7pm everyday and the tweets are actually making her quite upset and she really doesn't need them at moment. Thank you.'
