The 39-year-old yesterday hit back at reports suggesting she was held in her home against her will, branding them 'lies'.
After The Sun claimed police were looking into a case of false imprisonment, it was alleged that Stephen, 39, would face a police investigation.
A spokesperson for Mel said: "[She] did not make these allegations and is adamant they are totally untrue. She will be telling the police they are completely false."
While Mel has no intention of giving a statement to the police, she is thought to be certain someone is trying to split her and Stephen up.
A friend reportedly told the Mirror: "Mel is absolutely livid. The allegations are completely false and she has no idea why somebody would want to do this.
"She can only assume someone is determined to wreck her marriage. But she won't let them."
In December Mel missed the first part of The X Factor final after she was rushed to hospital, suffering from crippling stomach pains.
But yesterday it was reported that, the day before she was taken to hospital, she was held hostage at her home in Kensington.
While the police did confirm a claim had been made, Mel tweeted that it was all 'lies, lies, lies'.
The insider added: "She has her suspicions where the allegations have come from, and the people involved have a vendetta against Stephen."
