Just weeks after announcing her engagement to former TOWIE star Ricky Rayment, Marnie Simpson has confirmed that she has now quit the show to be with her new fiancé.

The 22-year-old reportedly clashed with producers over their decision to air Ricky’s proposal in the new series of the hit MTV show.

Now the reality star has confirmed fans’ fears with an emotional message on Twitter (which she has since deleted), claiming she was forced to choose between the show or her beau.

She wrote: “Being part of Geordie Shore was amazing and one of the best experiences I’ve even been given and I will never forget it, but I couldn’t continue in the show in a relationship.

“It wasn’t fun to me anymore and I didn’t enjoy it. Picking between my future was extremely easy Ricky would always come first.

“It was hard to say goodbye but if I hadn’t I would have lost Ricky which I wouldn’t of let happen, staying in Geordie Shore wasn’t possible any more.

She continued: “Given a choice on the day of my engagement say no and continue with Geordie Shore or say yes and leave it for good. I choose to get engaged to Rick and say goodbye to the show, a decision I’m still extremely happy with.

“I would never let the person I love go because of a TV show. I’m so grateful to MTV for opportunity and journey I got it was fantastic and I will always remember it as a great time in my life.”

Marnie joined Vicky Pattison, Charlotte Crosby and Holly Hagan in the Geordie Shore house back in 2013 and soon caught the eye of housemate Gaz Beadle.

She met fiancé Ricky earlier this year at the National Television Awards, months after the 24-year-old had split from ex girlfriend and TOWIE co-star Jess Wright.
