Mark Wright: ‘I’d never been in love before Michelle’

It might come as a blow to his former girlfriend of nine years Lauren Goodger, who he was once engaged to, but Mark Wright says his love for new fiancée Michelle Keegan is the real thing.

I thought I’d been in love before, but obviously I haven’t. That was, like, teenage, but grown-up love is totally different'

Speaking to a UK magazine, 26 year-old Mark said: ‘I never realized love could actually feel like this. I thought I’d been in love before, but obviously I haven’t.’

Referring to his past relationship with Lauren, which began when the TOWIE couple were young, he added: ‘that was, like, teenage, but grown-up love is totally different.’

I remember watching The Notebook, and I honestly feel like what Noah has got, I've got

The smitten ex-TOWIE star – who proposed to Michelle while on holiday in Dubai earlier this month – described what they have together as ‘Notebook’ love.

He gushed: 'Every single thing you imagine and you dream about falling in love with someone, I've got now. I remember watching The Notebook, and I honestly feel like what Noah has got, I've got.'

On why Corrie star Michelle, also 26, is ‘the one,’ the Essex boy said: ‘I just don’t know whether it’s because she’s a Northerner or not, but she’s just so down to eath and friendly. She makes everyone feel so welcome.’

Lauren and Mark met when they were children and they had a kind of volatile, random relationship

Even Mark’s family approve of his new fiancée over his ex, his 27 year-old sister Jess, describing her brother’s relationship with Lauren as ‘volatile.’

Jess – who famously fought with Lauren when they both starred in TOWIE – said: 'Lauren and Mark met when they were children. They were 15, they weren't even adults, and they had a kind of volatile, random relationship.

‘With Michelle, Mark's besotted. He idolises, he respects her. He just loves her.'

Lauren recently posted a picture of her with boyfriend Jake McClean, calling him 'the love of my life'

Mark also revealed that he and Michelle are going to start looking for a house together soon.

His comments come after Lauren responded to the couple’s announcement by wishing them ‘all the best.’

She told a UK magazine last week: ‘I wish them all the best and I'm very happy for him. That's it, there's nothing else for me to say, really.’

Michelle’s ex boyfriend Max George from The Wanted – who she was also engaged to by calling it off last year – also wished the new couple ‘all the luck in the world’ when he appeared on Lorraine’s ITV show recently.
