She’s never been one to bite her lip or mince her words on Made in Chelsea, and has brought the drama to every season since she joined for series 17 back in 2019. Now, chatting to Closer, Maeva d’Ascanio, 30, is engaged to co-star James Taylor, 27, after he romantically popped the question in April on a trip to Rome, Italy – and just two months later, she revealed she is expecting their first child in November.

And Maeva says she’s over the moon that she’s becoming a mum, saying, “I’m so excited to meet them. As the days go by, the more excited I get! Everything has been pretty smooth with the pregnancy so far, minus the baby brain, so fingers crossed things continue like that.

“I’m absolutely shattered from the pregnancy, planning the wedding, filming Made In Chelsea and moving house, but James has just been so incredible and supportive. I want the baby to be just like him, he’s always so calm and relaxed and happy. I hope they don’t inherit my feistiness, just my looks!”

Model Maeva is currently in her second trimester of her pregnancy, and says she’s had barely any symptoms or cravings, saying her biggest inconvenience is her changing shape.

She says, “I’m very into fashion and looking my best, so I’ve really been trying to avoid maternity wear but it’s becoming a bit inevitable now and I’m going to have to wear it. The worst thing about my pregnancy is my body changing, as I can’t fit into any of my clothes, which is really annoying and quite upsetting at times.

“I also can’t use any of my lovely beauty products because everything has to be natural. The only thing that is really saving me at the moment is sitting with my feet in cold water, especially with the heat we’ve been having recently.”

Maeva joined the show in March 2019 as the girlfriend of MIC star Miles Nazaire, who she dated for three years before the pair had a bitter split on the show just three months later. Miles was devastated when she began dating his then-best friend James, smashing a glass in an explosive scene on screen.

Last series, viewers saw Miles break down in tears at the prospect of Maeva and James getting engaged. But the star says Miles took news of her pregnancy and engagement surprisingly well.

“I was not expecting him to be very mature about the whole situation, but I was pleasantly surprised. He was really lovely and very supportive, which was nice.”

Maeva spent the first trimester of her pregnancy out in Mallorca filming for the latest series of MIC, which is set to air later this month.

And she says we’re in for an explosive ride, adding “There’s a lot of big news being revealed in series 24 and quite a lot of drama with cast members who aren’t usually front and centre, which is exciting. People can expect quite a roller-coaster series with a lot of ups and downs and arguments. It’ll be dramatic!”

What is the gender of Maeva D'Ascanio's baby?

Maeva and her fiancé James revealed the gender of their unborn baby on a recent episode of Made in Chelsea: Mallorca. The pair kept the intimate moment to themselves (and viewers, of course) as they held a private outdoor gender reveal, cutting into a cake to reveal blue sponge - meaning they're expecting a baby boy.

My view on my MIC co-stars

Julius Cowdrey

“Julius has been acting like a super-idiot recently. He needs to give himself one of his life-coaching lessons, but when you joke about that to him, he gets really offended.”

Sophie 'Habbs' Habboo

“When I first joined the show, some of the girls were cold and didn’t make an effort with me, so I felt excluded. But that’s changed with time – I get on really well with Habbs now.”

Tristan Phipps

“Tristan is a weird guy. I’m not really his biggest fan, to be honest. He seems to be supportive of James and I now, but who knows what he’s saying behind our backs?”
