Lily spoke about her signature look of prom dresses and trainers, and revealed it was her sister’s hand-me-downs that inspired the look.

The singer said: ‘Twelve? Thirteen? I have an older sister so I had her hand-me-down dresses, and I always just like sneakers when I was a teenager.’

The mum-of-two told V magazine that she lived in trainers during her teen years.

‘That was a big moment for me, I guess. But I stumbled upon that look- no pun intended- because I thought I was too young to have high heels.’

Lily went on to discuss how her music and performances are influence by fashion.

The two are intertwined for everyone,’ she says.

‘Style and music have always gone hand in hand. But in my case, I’m not really into one specific type of music, so maybe that’s why I dress completely different all the time.’

Lily’s fashion relationship with her elder sister Sarah has grown further since her days of hand-me-downs. The siblings even opened up their own vintage rental shop Lucy In Disguise.

Lily has since returned to the top of the charts, achieving a no. 1 with her new album Sheezus.
