Leona Lewis: “I couldn’t give two craps about what people think of my music”

She is often described as quiet and shy but Leona Lewis as said that she doesn’t care what people think of her music.

The former X Factor winner revealed that having fun performing songs from her Christmas album has inspired her next record.

Speaking to a UK newspaper, Leona said: “When I was performing One More Sleep on TV, I was smiling when I was singing.

“I never smile when I sing, as I’m drawn to melancholy, heart-wrenching melodies. It’s been nice to get out of that headspace and have fun.”

Leona, 28, revealed that her next album with be more upbeat and have a Motown feel.

She said: “My next album will be more Motowny. The songs won’t all be ‘Yay’ but they’ll have some fun.

“We wrote some non-festive songs with that energy, which we’ve set aside for my next record.”

The singer, who has sold over 20 million records worldwide, also admitted that she doesn’t pay attention to what people say about her music.

She said: “I couldn’t give two craps what people think. I know what I do comes from the heart, so whatever other people say is irrelevant.

“People are always going to have an opinion of you. I just concentrate on the love I get from the fans.”

Speaking about possible collaborations, Leona admitted she would love to team up with Bruno Mars.

“I keep saying I’d love to work with him. I’m worried I’m going to get a court order from his manager telling me to please stop stalking Mr. Mars.”
