And now his girlfriend Lea Michele has broken her twitter silence over his death, tweeting this afternoon: ‘Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love & support. Cory will forever be in my heart.’

26-year-old Lea, who starred in hit show Glee with Cory until his untimely death this month, released a statement immediately after the tragedy, but has kept a dignified silence since then.

Lea accompanied the tweet with a photo of the pair on the beach, beaming into the camera.

Twitter users have already started responding to the tweet, with one user writing: ‘Lea Michele’s tweet about Cory’s death just broke my heart.’

The couple began dating in 2012, three years after they began working each other on the show. In January, Lea said to Marie Claire: ‘I don’t even remember a time when he wasn’t my boyfriend. No one knows me better than Cory.’

Adding: ‘He makes me feel like I can do anything. For the first time in my life, I feel really, really settled and happy. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.’
