Corrie star Kym Marsh has opened up about the agony of losing her baby son Archie two years ago.

‘I thought I was going to die of a broken heart. No one should have to go through that.’

In an extract from her new autobiography Kym Marsh: From the heart, the actress reveals how she felt on the day of his funeral saying ‘It was the worse day of my life… when the curtains closed on my baby’s coffin I just lost it.[ asset id="55592" class="rightblock" ][

Kym, who plays Michelle Connor in the soap, gave birth to her baby boy in February 2009 18 weeks early but he died just seconds later. It was her first child with Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas after a whirlwind six-month romance.

Kym has two older children David, 15, and Emily, 13, from a previous relationship.

In her book, the ex-Hear’say singer describes how she keeps her son’s ashes in a box that she kisses everyday: ‘It didn’t feel right to scatter his ashes because I don’t want him to be on his own.’

Since then, Kym and fiancé Jamie have welcomed a new baby daughter Polly into their lives who Kym describes as ‘our little fighter and miracle’ after being born 33 weeks early with breathing problems.

Her happiness about her new arrival still doesn’t stop Kym from remembering her son as she states: ‘there is not a day that goes by when I don’t think about Archie.’

Kym has been diagnosed with and incontinent cervix and was bed-bound for much of her pregnancy with Polly.

The actress also spoke about her decision to release her forthcoming tell-all autobiography.

She explained: 'I was nervous with some of the subject matter, particularly Archie. Going over that was traumatic, but in some ways it was a good thing. It was almost like therapy.’
