In 2011 Kim, 34, divorced basketball player Kris Humphries, 30, after 72 days of marriage, citing 'irreconcilable differences'.
During a new interview, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star confessed she thought she and her family would have to go back to their regular jobs after the split.
Speaking to Sir Martin Sorrell for The Drum, Kim said: "When I was going through the divorce I did say to everyone, 'You guys, I think our careers are over. I hope you've saved your money.'
"Now we'll just continue to do our clothing stores and what we started off doing before the show. I totally thought it was over."
Kim – whose family now has an estimated net worth of nearly £200 million – was so convinced that she cleared her entire schedule.
She continued: ""I cancelled everything. I had a book tour, I had a fragrance launch, I had everything that you could possibly imagine and I just cancelled it all and I took time for me."
Thankfully Kim's career has only gone from strength to strength: she's now happily married to Kanye West, they have two-year-old daughter North and are expecting a son in December.
Can you imagine a world without the Kardashians?
