The Kardashian sister has switched from her laidback pregnancy diet to the more strict Atkins eating regime.
The diet plan was originally promoted by Dr Robert Atkins in the 1950s and has been a popular and effective method for weight loss ever since. Rihanna and Jennifer Aniston have previously tried the Atkins diet.
Kim, 32, has lost 30 pounds since giving birth to her first child, North, in June. The reality star faced criticism over her weight gain during her troublesome pregnancy.
Dieting along with regular gym sessions with a personal trainer, Kim has managed to get back into pre-pregnancy shape quickly.
Low carbohydrate diets are thought to have health benefits including improving insulin sensitivity, making those who undertake the eating plan improve their chances of avoiding diabetes.
Low carb diets are also said to reduce symptoms of PMS and improve skin appearance.
The diet works through eating low amounts of carbohydrates and increasing your intake of protein based foods and fruit and vegetables.
Breakfast could be an tomato, cheddar and salsa omelette or a fruit smoothie.
Lunch could be a prawn, avocado and tomato salad.
Prawns provide an excellent source of protein.
Protein would be incorporated into dinner too, with Atkins’ suggestions including chicken breast, sprouts and spinach salad.
Snacks would include fruit, or celery and carrots with cream cheese.
Atkins emphasizes the inclusion of healthy fats and proteins, encouraging dieters to leave carbohydrates such as bread and pasta on their plates. Unlike earlier editions of the eating plan, dieters are encouraged to steer clear over ‘bad’ fats such as those found in sweets.
