Kim, 34, shared a photo of 20-month-old North wearing the jewellery in bed, risking serious injury according to Alison Edwards.
Alison, a senior lecturer in midwifery, told the Birmingham Mail: “Kim is being so irresponsible as a parent and treating her child like an accessory baby.
“Babies have suffered injury and even fatalities due to inappropriate exposure to harmful items they’ve been wearing or dressed in.”
Alison, of Birmingham City University, claimed the necklace risked a whole host of dangers to little North, something that Kim should realise as a parent.
She continued: “I’ve known of babies who have lost fingers after getting them entwined in treads from their clothes and there is clearly a high possibility of this happening with a pearl necklace.
“Not only that, a child could swallow and choke on elements of jewellery items. Kim needs reminding that young babies aren’t born with a gag reflex so her daughter wouldn’t cough if she swallowed something harmful.
“Why else do we have health warnings on toys?”
Kim faced criticism over North last month after the little girl was pictured throwing a tantrum at dad Kanye’s Paris Fashion Week show.
Many argued that front row at the fashion show was not the place for a 20-month-old girl.
