Ahead of her stint on Celebs Go Dating, Kerry Katona has opened up about her split from fiancé Ryan Mahoney – admitting there was ‘no passion’ and ‘no romance’ in their relationship.

Chatting to The Speakmans on their Hope Clinic podcast, Kerry – who called it quits with Ryan in November after six years together – said, ‘I’m never going to get from Ryan what I want, and I realise that now. I think I just plodded along with it. I used to say, “You’re a great business partner but a s*** fiancé.” I was made to feel as though it was all me. Ryan is not emotionally available for me – I want someone who is really going to show their emotions for me, and grab me and tell me they love me, and how worthy I am. It doesn’t mean he’s a bad person.’

While she said she ‘misses her mate’, Kerry, 44, went on, ‘I think I am still in love with Ryan. But I don’t think I’ll ever get back with him, ever. I became an asset.’

However, she did brand the 36-year-old businessman a ‘godsend’ when her former husband George Kay died of an overdose in 2019, aged just 39.

Kerry has previously spoken out about how she suffered domestic abuse at the hands of George, who was the father of her youngest child, Dylan-Jorge, 11.

Discussing his six-year prison stint, the TV star – who is also mum to Molly, 23 and Lilly-Sue, 22 from her marriage to Brian McFadden, and Heidi, 18, and Maxwell, 17, from her second marriage to Mark Croft – revealed, ‘Someone who had been inside for kidnap and torture was normal for me. If I’d have met Ryan the same time that I met George, Ryan would have bored me to death. Ryan was a godsend when George died. DJ was only four.’

Now, as she heads back onto the dating scene, three-times married Kerry has joked that finding a lawyer would be perfect because it ‘will save her a fortune’ in divorce fees.

She cryptically added, ‘I still believe I will find the love of my life. I’ve had many loves of my life, but at the moment, I want to just be in a relationship with myself – for at least 12 months.’
