The rent-a-gob took to Twitter this morning to rant about parents taking their kids out of school during term time.

She wrote: “Taking kids out of school in term time is wrong. If you paid for each school day, you would appreciate the value of it. School is not free.”

Katie, 38, continued her attack, dropping in some figures for good measure, saying: “1 in 5 kids start secondary school barely able to read or write. 33% of poorer youngsters are ‘barely literate’. But they have a good tan.”

She then got personal towards parents, saying that if children are struggling with learning then it’s their fault.

“Lazy parents end up with thick kids. If you can’t reads this kids – it’s probably just as well,” she said.

Following her appearances on Channel 5’s The Big Benefits Row and The Big Immigration Row, Katie confirmed she would be appearing on another debate show next week, focusing on debt.

She said: “Getting limbered up for The Big Debt Row on Ch5 on Monday. Can’t pay and they’ll take it away. Stand by for fisticuffs.”
