It’s no secret that Katie Hopkins relishes in rubbing people up the wrong way with her outspoken views and below-the-belt comments.

But it turns out that fears over her family’s safety following death threats has forced her to install high security in her family home.

The 40-year-old told the Daily Star: “Our house is rigged up to the local police station - that's just my life I suppose.”

She also keeps her children from reading some of the more nasty comments.

Katie explains: “My children are somewhat isolated from it. They don't have iPads and they don't have phones.

“My parents aren't a part of it at all either. They don't go on Twitter. I just send them clips of me looking fairly all right.”

Police recommended that Katie install more security measures after Twitter trolls threatened to take her life.

One follower even went as far as to threaten to behead the mum-of-three with a machete.
