Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, recently the likened the two, after Katie, 40, compared migrants to 'cockroaches'.
But the former Celebrity Big Brother contestant has insisted she is defending freedom of speech.
She told the Daily Star: "The list of things we can't say is longer than the list of things we can say.
"If it takes me to stand up to defend that freedom of speech that I old dear then it is an important thing."
Katie also suggested that she is the victim of sexism, adding: "People often question 'why is this hideous woman out? Why isn't she at home looking after her children?'
"And I explain that I work like a husband and hope that gets through to a few people."
The mum-of-three said that the UN should be focusing on 'important' issues, rather than her comments.
She said: "Naturally, what I've said is the most important, a priority item, to the UN. I think that's really reassuring. Not."
