Discussing their decision to part ways during an appearance on Alan Carr: Chatty Man, emotions ran high, with Oritsé Williams, 26, breaking down in tears.

Explaining his outburst he said: ‘It’s only because I saw the fans literally as we were coming in to see you and just seeing them cry and seeing them upset really evoked that emotion in me.’

Referring to the split as a celebration, Oritsé added: ‘But you know, it is a celebration. At the end of the day we've had an amazing six years together. We've been on a journey.’

Crediting Oritsé for the bands formation JB Gill, 26, said: 'It’s Ortise’s baby effectively, you know. He brought us together’

'It's about us looking at individual journeys and looking where we can go with ourselves'

Speaking about their decision, Aston Merrygold, 25, revealed: ‘Obviously reservations were had but now it's about us looking at individual journeys and looking at where we can go with ourselves. It's real for us you know, even Ortisé's reaction.’

When asked if he was against the band splitting Oritsé, replied: ‘It is what it is, I guess. The decision was made and we all felt it was the right thing to do.’

Struggling to hold back his emotions, the singer had to be comforted by his fellow bandmate, Marvin Humes, 28, as Marvin elaborated:

'We started in 2007, the last six years has been all of our wildest dreams come true'

'It’s an emotional decision. We’re best friends, we’re brothers, the bond between us is indescribable ... and of course for it to all end was a massively emotional decision, and it wasn’t one that was taken lightly.’

Marvin continued: 'We've had an incredible career for five years and we want to see it as a celebration that we’ve achieved so much. We wanted to go out on top and not be that act where people are like, "Oh bloody hell, it’s JLS again".'

‘We started in 2007, the last six years has been all of our wildest dreams come true. We never wanted to overstay our welcome in the industry, Alan,’ he added.
