Talking on a new tv documentary marking the two-year anniversary of Jade Goody’s death, the father of her two sons has spoken out about banning her widower Jack Tweed from seeing them. Six months after her death, Jeff Brazier made the decision to keep Bobby, seven, and Freddy, six, away from Jack – who married Jade weeks before she died of cervical cancer on Mother’s Day in 2009 – and out of public view.
“They don’t see Jack,” says Jeff, who’s been starring on Dancing On Ice. “He’s not a bad lad, but with everything that has happened, it became quite obvious it would be best to keep him out of the equation.”
Talking about his decision last year, Jeff said: “I don’t say that as a punishment to Jack. I say it as the father of my children. They just deserve a lot better.”
'Jack has been jailed three times in three years'
Jack has been jailed three times in three years and is going on trial in August again with brother Lewis, 20, and pal TOWIE’s Mark Wright after being charged for abusive behaviour. They have denied the charges.
In the documentary, which features interviews with Jade’s close family and friends, Jack, 23, tearfully begs Jeff to change his mind. He lived with Jade for three years and says: “I have lost my whole family. It’s just me on my own and it’s really horrible.”
Jack’s run-ins with the law include him being jailed for attacking a 16 year old with a golf club and later for beating up a taxi driver. Last year, he was cleared over charges relating to raping a 19 year old.
In an interview before she died, Jade insisted she hoped he’d always be in her sons’ lives, saying he was “better with my kids than I could ever possibly imagine.”
The emotional documentary, Jade Changed My Life, tells how her close pals are planning to celebrate her 30th in June with “lots of champagne.” Her mum Jackiey Budden, who lives in Spain, confesses she’s kept the hospital gown Jade died in because it still smells of her.
'Jackiey's the last blood link to their mum'
Former drug addict Jackiey, 52, still has a close bond with her grandkids – something Jeff’s keen on. Jeff, who’s been dating fashion buyer Claire Springett for nine months, says: “Jackiey’s the last blood link to their mum.”
Jeff also opens up about his beloved boys, saying they’re “going to do great things.” He adds: “Bobby’s doing very well at school. He’s very protective of Freddy, too. And Freddy’s forever making me laugh. The other day, when they were given lots of chocolate, they asked me to take it to the hospital. They’re going to be amazing people.”
