Jason Manford may be famed for making us laugh, but he brought tears to our eyes when he paid an emotional tribute to the late Stephen Sutton on his Facebook page last night.
He wrote: “Remembering Stephen Sutton this week. It was a year ago when I first got involved with helping Stephen to achieve his aim of raising £1 million for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
“Since then he’s raised over £5 million, helping young people with cancer for years to come.
“Here’s to you, Stephen.”
Jason added: “If anyone would like to make another donation in his memory, then please do.
“Stephen may have gone, but cancer hasn’t. And, every day, thousands of scared youngsters and their families need our help, or, at the very least, our thoughts.
“Thank you to everyone who donated.”
He also shared the now-iconic image of Stephen Sutton shooting the world a thumbs-up from his hospital bed, which was captioned: “From someone who wants more time in this world, please don’t waste yours.
“You’d be amazed what you can achieve when you try.”
Stephen was diagnosed with bowel cancer when he was 15.
Despite treatment the tumours spread, with doctors telling him the disease was terminal in 2012.
The inspiring teen then made it his mission to raise £1 million for the Teenage Cancer Trust - and his amazingly selfless story quickly went public, capturing the attention of the nation.
He passed away in his sleep on the 14th May 2014, after a courageous four-year battle with the disease - but his legacy continues to live on.
Our thoughts remain with him.
