Jaime King defends breastfeeding Instagram pictures: ‘Every woman has a right’

Actress Jaime King has defended her right to post pictures of her breastfeeding on Instagram.

The 35-year-old spoke to an American magazine about the backlash over her intimate breastfeeding Instagram snap.

She shared the candid photo with fans after becoming a mother to her son James Knight Newman in October last year.

She explained to the women’s magazine: “It was 4 am, and I was breastfeeding my son, when the woman who was helping me take care of him took the picture.

“Everything you could possibly feel, I was feeling during that sacred, challenging, beautiful, scary time.”

Jaime was on the receiving end of a backlash after sharing the photo, though many fans praised her for sharing the beautiful moment with them.

She said: “It made me think about this thing within mommy-hood where there’s all this women against women stuff going on, so I posted it because I believe every woman has a right and a choice to do what she wants to do.

Jaime shared the snap earlier this year with the caption: “James Knight is now 8 months old! These are the moments a mother lives for.”

She then tweeted: “Breastfeeding should not be taboo- and bottle feeding should not be judged- it's ALL fun for the whole family.”
