Hollyoaks’ Stephanie Davis ‘feigned illness to party in Marbella’

It was announced last week that the 22-year-old's contract had been terminated with immediate effect – and now sources are claiming that Stephanie resumed drinking just hours after being admitted to hospital while on a break in Marbella earlier this month.

After sharing a photo of her with a drip in her arm, Stephanie wrote: "Wasn't how I wanted to spend my whole holiday. But at least I'm in the best place on the mend now."

The Sun reports that a Marbella holidaymaker said on the day she was supposed to return to work:: "Steph was absolutely hammered – she was all over the place. I asked to take her picture but she refused, saying her Hollyoaks bosses weren't supposed to know she wasn't still in hospital."

In a further sting to the show, the source claimed that, while she told her bosses that she was too ill to work, she was actually "throwing back cocktails".

Stephanie – who played Sinead O'Connor on the soap – took to Twitter this week to comment on the sacking.

She wrote: "I would like to thank all of the fans for your continued support and not believing everything you read. I'm excited to embark on a new adventure and already excited with things to come.

"U guys have been amazing and I love you all!!! Thank you! Stephanie xxx [sic]."

The actress's agent confirmed that she was fired after turning up to filming drunk.

A statement read: "Stephanie's contract was terminated following warnings for lateness, attendance and after a final incident which she turned up to set unfit for work because of alcohol consumption."

The shock axing comes after Stephanie revealed her joy at having her contract renewed.

She told the Daily Star in April: "I'm really happy. I've been in the show since I was 16 and I'm now 22. I've kind of grown up here, which has been mental."
