Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin reportedly spent a year in marriage counselling as they struggled to save their relationship, but, earlier this week, they announced that their 11-year marriage was over.
They said they had decided to "consciously uncouple" after a trial separation via Gwyneth's website Goop.
They said: "We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner."
However, since the split was announced, the pair have been dogged by cheating rumours, with many claiming that Gwyneth had been unfaithful to Chris.
Sources close to the US actress said to The Mirror that Gwyneth found the claims that she was unfaithful to rock star husband Chris, 37, with up to three men were “ridiculous”.
“She doesn’t care what people think. She knows the truth.”
“They have worked really hard for a year or more, going to therapy, trying to make it work. She’s been more honest than ever about how hard marriage is, but they decided it was best to no longer be together as a couple.”
Gwyneth reportedly told friends that "I'm not a cheat" as rumours circulated about her and entertainment lawyer Kevin Yorn, Elle Macpherson's husband Jeff Soffer and British actor Donovan Leitch.
However the actress was snapped in September kissing ex-boyfriend Donovan, 46, on the mouth at a baseball game in LA.
Despite this, Chris and Gwyneth have vowed to remain friends and said they "always will be a family", admitting that "in many ways we are closer than we have ever been."
