Jamelia caused huge controversy this week when she insisted that high street stores shouldn’t cater to bigger women as this promotes an unhealthy lifestyle.
But 34-year-old Gemma Collins, who recently launched a collection with Evans, ranging from size 16 to 26, has hit out at Superstar singer Jamelia, also 34.
Speaking to The Sun, Gemma said: “You can’t segregate people who are overweight. Some women really struggle with their weight.
“Jamelia is slim. She doesn’t know what it feels like to be bigger and not be able to go shopping. Are bigger people not meant to be able to get clothes? It’s ridiculous.”
But Jamelia has refused to back down and appeared on Good Morning Britain yesterday to reiterate her remarks.
While she claims she wasn’t trying to upset people, the Loose Women presenter said sometimes in her line of work upsetting people is inevitable.
But mum-of-two Jamelia did add that it isn’t just plus-size that thinks should be removed from the high street.
“I didn’t make it clear on the show that I was talking about extremes, above a size 20 and below a size 6.”
