Suranne, who is currently performing in The Crimson Fields, got engaged to magazine editor Laurence Akers, after a whirlwind six-week romance.
The 35-year-old apparently met the editor at a wedding earlier this year, but remained silent on their union since they got together.
'Your partner has to be someone very special because life is so busy. If that person isn't right for you, don't settle for second best'
The news comes soon after Suranne declared that she wasn't dating anyone because no one had been quite right, stating: 'I'm still single. You don't want to be single for ever.'
'But also, once you have your own life, your partner has to be someone very special because life is so busy. If that person isn't right for you, don't settle for second best.'
Laurence, who at 45 is 10 years older than the actress, is the editor at Nikon Pro Magazine and has worked for several high profile clients, such as Dulux, Ford and British Airways.
According to a friend of the actress, Laurence and Suranne sent a picture of an engagement ring to close family and friends on Friday.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
