She’s looking and feeling better than ever after dropping an incredible five stone – and Fern Britton is ready to complete her transformation by finding her Mr Right.
Talking about her dramatic makeover, TV icon Fern, 67, insisted she’s lost the weight ‘naturally’ by cutting out sugar from her diet, taking part in gym classes at 6am and stopping smoking and drinking after having a health wake-up call.
She admitted during a recent interview that when her surgeon told her she needed a shoulder replacement, she thought, ‘I need to get my life back on track. I need to stop smoking, stop drinking, get eating under control and stop lying in bed feeling sorry for myself.’
And a source tells Closer that Fern – who starred on last year’s Celebrity Big Brother – is hoping her new look will help her find love.
The insider says, ‘She hasn’t got a new man yet, but she wants one. She’s looking for love.’
Former This Morning host Fern hasn’t publicly dated since her split from her ex-husband, TV chef Phil Vickery, in 2020 after more than two decades together. They share daughter Winnie, 23, while Fern is also mum to twin sons Harry and Jack, 31, and daughter Grace, 27, from her first marriage to journalist Clive Jones.
Fern recently said that Phil ‘hasn’t spoken to me for six years now’, claiming he cut contact with her ‘as soon as my mum died’.
And while Fern is open to finding love again, our source says she is also firmly focused on reviving her career, revealing, ‘Fern knows this is her chance to get back into the spotlight. She’s really been looking after herself and watching what she’s eating, going on long walks and doing lots of exercise. She wants to look the best she can, and the hard work is paying off. She wants to be in a happy place, she’s really hopeful about her career again.’
