It's gayby shower day!

The pregnant singer, who is expecting her first child - a son - with husband Josh Duhamel in September took to Twitter yesterday morning to express her excitement ahead of the celebration.

'It's gayby shower day! He's trying to talk!’ She wrote, along with a picture of herself holding a speech bubble next to her bump.

According to insiders from a US magazine, the celebrations – which were thrown by her gay best friends at an LA hotel – included burlesque drag performers and the 38 year-old expectant mum served bar offered ‘Ferg-arita’ cocktails.

The host apparently took to the mic at the start of the shower, announcing: "Woo! It's my baby boy's first party!"

Fashion Police presenter Kelly Osbourne and US celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton were among the celebrity guests who attended the party – along with Fergie’s 40 year-old husband Josh.

Father-to-be Josh announced the sex of his and Fergie’s baby earlier this month when he appeared on a US TV show, saying he was ‘excited.’

The actor said in a recent interview that he and his wife plan to work out their busy schedules so they can share the parenting duties equally.

‘We want to work it out so that we can be together; whether I am working, they can come with [me] or if she is working I can go with them. I can’t see myself ever wanting to be away from my wife and kid,’ he said.

Meanwhile, Fergie has legally changed her name from Stacy Ann Ferguson to Fergie Duhamel, taking the last name of her actor husband who she married in 2009.
