At his concerts, Enrique Iglesias regularly uses a flying drone to capture photographs of the crowd during the show.

He often, according to fans, reaches out and grabs the drone to turn it on himself, in order to give his audience a ‘point of view’ shot.

However, over the weekend, things went badly wrong when Enrique reached out, as normal, to capture the flying camera.

Eyewitness Adile Flores told CNN that she saw Enrique’s blood splatter close to the stage.

However, like a true professional, he continued with the concert even though it was clear he was bleeding heavily.

Eventually, he raised his hands as if to show he was bleeding and left the stage.

About 10 minutes later, he returned with his hand wrapped, she said.

He smeared his blood in the shape of a heart - an image which his publicist. Joe Bonilla, snapped and shared on Twitter.

Enrique was apparently advised to stop the show, but he decided to keep going, so as not to disappoint his fans.

Afterwards, he was taken in an ambulance to the airport, and flown out to Los Angeles to see a specialist.

A full statement can be read on Joe Bonilla’s Instagram page:

We hope Enrique makes a speedy recovery!
