She has been open about her desperation to have a daughter – previously revealing her plans to use controversial gender selection treatment in her bid for a baby girl.

Now Danielle Lloyd, who’s already a mum of four boys, says she has been forced to put her dream on hold after sadly being diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis.

The former glamour model, 36 – who showed off her newly toned stomach in a bikini on a UK beach during the recent heatwave – revealed in an interview that she’s set to undergo an operation to treat her conditions, which can affect fertility.

The star – who tragically suffered a miscarriage last year – shares sons Archie, nine, Harry, eight, and six-year-old George with her footballer ex Jamie O’Hara, 33, as well as two-year-old Ronnie with second husband Michael O’Neill.

She said, “I’ve just found out that I’ve got PCOS and endometriosis, so I have to have an operation for that, so can’t think about having another [baby] at the moment anyway.

“I’m in two minds – I’ve just got a new puppy who is a little girl, so she’s my baby at the moment. I would love a little girl, but four boys is a lot!”

Both PCOS and endometriosis make it more difficult for women to conceive children, although many can and do get pregnant. Danielle has longed for a daughter, previously telling Closer that her close relationship with her own mum made her want to recreate that bond.

Last August, she revealed she had been to a gender selection clinic in Dubai, where the practice is legal. The treatment involves harvesting and fertilising her female embryos and then re-implanting them, which is banned in the UK.

But in April, Danielle told Closer that lockdown had put their plans on hold and had made her reconsider.

She said, “I’ve always wanted a daughter, and gender selection is still a possibility. Some days I think, ‘God I love my big family, and I’d love a daughter to come into the mix.’ But other days I think, ‘I’m so grateful for how we are, do I really want to go through pregnancy and do it all again?’. It’s something we talk about, and I change my mind every day.”

Last week, Danielle revealed her incredibly toned midriff while enjoying the trip to the beach. Despite vowing she’d never have surgery again after a botched boob job in 2012, last year Danielle had another boob job, liposuction and a Brazilian bum lift, telling Closer in October, “This is the most confident I’ve felt about my body in a long time.”
