Closer’s News Editor Katie Banks spent the biggest night of the showbiz year at Elton John's AIDS Foundation party and mingled with the A-Listers, including Sharon Stone, Caitlyn Jenner, Ruby Rose and our legendary Rocket Man himself!
There isn’t really a more exciting place to be on Oscars night than Elton John’s star-studded bash - and this year was definitely no disappointment.
The glitzy party was held at a gigantic marquee in West Hollywood and was brimming with celebs including Caitlyn Jenner, Sharon Stone, Will and Grace's Eric McCormack and Gordon Ramsay.
Luckily I was kitted out in an Aidan Mattox dress to meet Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish as they personally greeted all their starry guests and gushed about their two sons Zachary, five, and Elijah, three.
The legendary singer, who raised a whopping $7 million for his AIDS Foundation during the night, laughed: “They were at the party last year but they're now at school and having a rest. They're the most important people in my life!"
And the first person I bumped into at the Moët Hennessy champagne bar, was none other than reality sensation Caitlyn Jenner, who was there with rumored love interest and trans model Andreja Pejic.
Wearing a sparkly sequinned ball dress, she was refreshingly honest, saying: “Yes, my transition has been difficult for my family but i know that they are 100% behind me. I feel so confident now and I love the way i look.”
And while Eric McCormack confirmed that Will and Grace will be returning in September, Andrew Rannells spoke about his favourite moments filming Girls with Lena Dunham.
Andrew says: "My favourite scene ever from Girls is when I snorted fake coke with Lena. We laughed for hours! She is the best girl and we've had a magic time together. no way me imagined that the series would go on for six years so we're happy to go out on a bang."
Action girl Ruby Rose looked sensational in fake pink fur - but admitted it was time for a break!
Ruby says: "I'm not wearing real fur..it’s plastic. I'm so happy to be here. I feel so exhausted at the moment, I'm looking forward to going home to Australia soon and having a break. I'm from Melbourne so I'll probably go surfing and chill...it's a rite of passage there!"
And although Gordon Ramsay, who attended the star studded bash with his 17-year old daughter Holly and prepared the amazing five-course meal for guests including steak and sashmi, admitted that while he loved to cater for Elton's glamorous bash, he's not ready to make a Hollywood move.
Gordon laughed: "I'm so excited about doing the menu tonight! I'm so happy to be here with my daughter. We're really enjoying it but the family aren't Hollywood bound yet. We still love living in the UK and it's our home."
The dinner was followed by a lively auction which saw guests delve into their pockets for a BVLGARI Diva’s Dream Necklace in white gold with pavé diamonds modeled by Lottie Moss, a five-day vacation at Steven Tyler’s Hawaiian retreat; and two tickets to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
Following the auction, St. Paul & the Broken Bones took the stage for an exciting performance of their hit songs, including “I'll Be Your Woman” with Elton. Then it was time to hit the dance floor until the early hours…until next year!
