After weeks of speculation, Simon Cowell confirmed through his Twitter page that Cheryl would be returning to the hit show.
A music source told The Mirror that Cheryl is set to return with a tidy fee of £1.5 million.
They revealed: ‘There has been to-ing and fro-ing but the deal was finally done in the last 48 hours.’
‘It’s all very last minute but now there’s due to be an announcement, It’s really exciting.’
Cheryl replaces former judge Nicole Scherzinger.
Nicole announced earlier this year that she would not be returning to The X Factor and is instead focusing on her own music career.
Cheryl acted as a judge on the British X Factor for several years before she was promised a seat on the judging panel of the American X Factor.
Simon famously axed Cheryl from the US version, prompting a major fall out between the pair.
