Speaking in her blog, Catherine Tyldesley said she had been watching "certain famous documentary about midwives and childbirth" when one of the medical staff "carelessly" offered the following advice to expectant mothers:
“Childbirth is horrific. It is the worst pain you will ever experience.
"You won’t want to do it again. But you will. We have plenty of drugs to get you through, that is why were here”
The remark left pregnant Corrie star Catherine furious - and has encouraged her to open up about her own thoughts on 'natural' childbirth.
She wrote: "If your mind is surrounded by negative words, negative influence and intervention… that’s not going to be very helpful for you or baby is it?
"I appreciate that often medical intervention is needed and can be a wonderful thing – if it's needed, it's needed.
"However the more ‘intervention’ mum has – generally the longer the labour will take. So its always best to endeavour to birth as naturally as possible."
Speaking about the benefits of hypnobirthing, she continued: "Did you know that your endorphins (that your body produces naturally) are 50 TIMES more powerful than an epidural?
"We’ve been doing this for millions of years – our bodies are designed to do this – YOU CAN DO THIS!!!"
