iTunes revealed that the album sold 828,773 copies in just three days, with 617,213 in the US alone. This makes it the fastest selling album in iTunes history.
And the singer, 32, posted a video to fans, explaining that her life has changed since the birth of her and Jay Z’s daughter Blue Ivy and claimed that she worked harder than anyone she knows to get where she is today.
She said: “I have a lot of awards and I have a lot of these things that are amazing and I worked my ass off.
“I worked harder than probably anyone I know to get those things. But nothing feels like my child saying. ‘Mommy!’ Nothing feels like when I look my husband in the eyes.
“Nothing feels like I’m respected, when I get on the stage and see I’m changing people’s lives. Those are the things that matter, and at this point in my life, that’s what I’m striving for.”
The star ended the video with a quote: “Growth, love happiness, fun. Enjoy your life, it’s short. That’s the message.”
Beyonce’s new album has already become her fifth consecutive solo number one in the US, making her the first female artist to her first five albums all debut at number one.
The album has also given the former Destiny’s Child singer her highest first week sales.
