In an interview with The Sun newspaper, Amanda Holden has spoken up about the injustice women face when it comes to the public’s reaction about celebrity affairs.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge explained that, in her opinion and experience, women have affairs for different reasons than men, and it’s much more about seeking love and approval than it is about sex.
She said:
"Most women seek love and affirmation," she said.
"They don't seek sex - they need something much deeper.”
The 45 year old has hinted that partners are to blame if women cheat, as “they're not going to go anywhere for that [affection] unless they're missing it.”
Amanda also explained how, despite the fact her own affair took place almost 20 years ago (she was involved with Neil Morrissey while married to ex husband Les Dennis), people continue to bring it up now
She believes, however, that men don’t get the same raw deal.
When they get caught up in public sex scandals, she said, the attitude seems to be ‘forgive and forget.'
“Look at… any of the men who had huge public affairs or did awful things with hookers and drugs and everything," ranted Amanda.
"They don't get mentioned again."
And, unlike women, she believes male cheats will go out and do it again - without thinking too hard about the repercussions of their infidelity.
They don’t have the guilty conscious that women have, Amanda insists.
In 2013, Amanda echoed a similar sentiment in an interview with Good Housekeeping magazine, saying:
“I don’t believe women have affairs for no reason… If a woman has an affair, there in normally a problem in their marriage.”
