The singer decided to paint her nails royal blue for the occasion and decorate them with silver crowns.

Adele said after the presentation: ‘It was an honour to be recognised and a very proud moment to be awarded alongside such wonderful and inspirational people. Very posh indeed.’

Charles and Adele chatted for a few minutes after she received her award, presumably about her immensely successful two years.

Adele kept within royal etiquette perfectly and curtseyed as she approached the Prince of Wales, looking thrilled to be presented with the MBE.

Earlier this year Adele won an Oscar for her James Bond track ’ Skyfall.’ Adele’s amazing year is now complete with an honour from royalty.
