It’s taken them over a week, but Jessa Duggar and her husband Ben Seewald have finally chosen a name for their baby boy.
Although, honestly, we never would have guessed this one.
Taking to their official website last night, Jessa, 20, and Ben, 23, revealed that their newborn baby son’s name is…
Spurgeon Elliot Seewald.
Yup, you read that correctly; Spurgeon.
Check out the video announcement here:
Ben explained: “Charles Spurgeon was a preacher way back in the 19th century, and he had a big impact on our lives.
“And his writing and service books are still around today, and continue to impact a lot of people.”
It is worth pointing out that Charles Spurgeon (1834 - 1892) was often referred to as ‘the Prince of Preachers’ - so it’s a pretty big deal for the devout Jessa and Ben to share his name with their little boy.
Speaking with People shortly after Spurgeon’s birth on 5th November, Jessa explained that she and her husband wanted to use names "of heroes from the Christian faith."
Which is why the baby's middle name, Elliot, was also chosen to honour someone from the past of Christianity; missionaries Jim and Elisabeth Elliot.
What do you think of the name they’ve chosen for their little bundle of joy?
