Rylan Clark-Neal is set to host a reboot of 90s classic Supermarket Sweep
The news series will land on a primetime slot on ITV2 and Rylan – who earlier this year tweeted about his excitement at landing his “dream job” – will fill the shoes of the late, great Dale Winton.
Dale, who passed away from natural causes last year, hosted the show from 1993 to 2001, guiding contestants through questions to gain them more time on the “big sweep” section of the show.
And Rylan, who grew up with the program and whose career is already rivalling telly legend Dale’s, has called the gig a “dream come true”.
“I am beside myself with excitement and will be going wilder in the aisles than ever before,” he said in a statement. “Fill up your trolley, grab your bag for life and let’s go shopping!”
And it seems ITV bosses are just as thrilled with the casting, insisting that Rylan was the only person for the job.

Froot Loops are a true oldie but goodie, first launched way back in the '60s. Toucan Sam was the Froot Loop connoisseur with his rainbow beak representing the flavours which included cherry, orange, lemon and grape. Surely we could count these as part of our five a day?

What happens when two great foods unite? Dunkin' Donuts Cereal, that's what. Launched back in 1988, sugary donut-shaped hoops were available in either Glazed Style or Chocolate. Thankfully, we'll settle with proper, original glazed donuts until the cereal version makes a comeback.

These little guys had a short but seriously sweet stint in the mid-'80s. Nerds candy was turned into a cereal with two flavours available in each box - orange/strawberry or cherry/grape. The big question was: 'which side are you gonna eat first?' If only we still had a choice!

Another nod to cartoon themed cereals, The Flinstones had a whole range! Cocoa Pebbles were super chocolatey nuggets and tasted amazing in a bowl of cold milk.

One of the original greats, Quisp by Quaker Oats debuted in 1965 with space-saucer shaped corn bites baked in syrup. You might also remember the crazy cartoon advertisements featuring cute characters Quisp and Quake.

“Rylan has a personality that will allow him to conjure up all the campery of old while still making the role his own.”

It will be a busy year for former X Factor star Rylan, who’s already been confirmed for a number of upcoming gigs.
He’s recently starred alongside his mum Linda on Celebrity Gogglebox (which we are LOVING here at Closer online), and yesterday was announced as the host of a new fashion makeover show for the Beeb, called You Are What You Wear.
And to top it all off, he’ll also be splitting presenting duties with Zoe Ball on Strictly Come Dancing’s spin off show It Takes Two when it returns later this year.
