The 5:2 Skin Diet, which gets its name from the popular 5:2 Diet, has absolutely nothing to do with food.
But it promises to do absolute wonders for your skin.
As with the original diet regime, which sees people reduce their calorie intake for two days a week, the 5:2 Skin Diet asks that you go makeup-free for two days (consecutive or non-consecutive).
As in, no makeup whatsoever; think #iwokeuplikethis, minus the friendly Instagram filters.
Why? Well, plenty of beauty experts and dermatologists are claiming that following this regime will help you to achieve younger, healthier looking skin in just one month.
Dr Noor Almaani, Dermatologist at The Private Clinic of Harley Street, told MailOnline: “Taking regular breaks from wearing make-up could be a wise decision, as it will enable your skin to recover and it could reduce the level of irritation caused by wearing make-up over long periods of time.”
And Indie Lee, an eco-beatury entrepreneur, told Yahoo: “This whole craze is great because it’s bringing awareness to skin health.
“It’s already started in America—people are doing the no-makeup selfie or the 28 days without makeup challenge.”
But, while she personally loves going makeup-free, she admits that it might not work for everyone.
“If you’re going to stress about not wearing makeup in public, that stress is going to make your skin look worse,” she added.
This diet encourages people to cleanse and moisturise every evening, as well as ditch the cosmetics for two days a week, but there are also a few tips and tricks to making sure your skin is prepped for the days you breakup with makeup.

Drink lots of water
Use toner to close your pores
Wash your face twice daily, once in the morning and once at night
Try to get at least eight hours of sleep per night
Wear moisturiser daily; you should always apply a good quality moisturiser (ideally with SPF in it) after washing
Always remove your makeup before bed
Stop touching your face; it can add oil and bacteria to the skin, sparking breakouts - not to mention the fact that rubbing at it can loosen the skin, causing wrinkles
Use an undereye serum or moisturiser, to reduce puffiness
