According to The Sun, the mother-of-three has walked out on her husband after their arguments 'became too much to bear'.
A source told The Sun:
“Mel’s marriage has reached crisis point — in fact it’s on life support. She has told friends it is over with Stephen.
“It was a very symbolic gesture when she removed her wedding ring before appearing on The X Factor final on Sunday night.
“She knew what she was doing and wanted to send Stephen a clear message about her feelings.
“Mel hasn’t spoken to Stephen once since her admission to hospital last week and as it stands she doesn’t want to see him."
Friends have reportedly told the 39-year-old to break away from husband of seven years, Stephen.
When contacted by Closer, a representative for Mel B declined to comment.
Mel B returned to her post as a judge for Sunday's X Factor final, but fans quickly took to Twitter to comment on the former Spice Girl's missing wedding ring.
The latest speculation surrounding Mel's marriage comes after Mel's estranged mother Andrea and sister Danielle claimed last week they had been told 'lies' about her condition and kept in the dark about where she was.
Mel B has 15-year-old daughter Phoenix from her relationship with dancer Jimmy Gulzar.
Stephen has daughter Giselle Belafonte with former girlfriend Nicole Contreras.
Together, Stephen and Mel have raised Mel's daughter Angel- born in 2007 from her relationship with Eddie Murphy, and their own daughter Maddison Brown Belafonte, born in 2011.
