He’s famed for his appearances as a panellist on 8 Out of 10 Cats but comedian Jon Richardson refuses to attend any of Jimmy Carr’s A-List parties.
The 32-year-old says: “There are lots of parties that Jimmy goes to aside from his own. He enjoys Jonathan Ross’ Halloween party but I don’t get invited. I am glad, otherwise I would have the awkward moment of turning [the invite] down. I like small parties with people I know. I like eating pizza at home with my girlfriend.”
Despite not joining the comic host at his famous gatherings, Jon admires his 8 Out of 10 Cats co-stars – and no one more so than Jimmy Carr.
He says: “It is great fun working with Jimmy Carr. He keeps the show going and that’s more difficult than I give him credit for. You have to juggle the guests, keep the stories moving and make the audience laugh – having never done that I would say he does a very good job at it.”
And while Jon opts for a night in over partying, wife-to-be and fellow comedian Lucy Beaumont keeps him company now the pair have moved in together.
Lancaster-born Jon says: “My girlfriend has moved in with me so now I have a proper house for the first time. I often miss being there while on tour – whereas before all I needed was my iPad to keep me going.”
Jon admits he was more nervous going down on one knee than he ever felt in front of a live studio audience – after proposing to Lucy in Scotland earlier this year. And while the couple prepare to walk down the aisle Jon says he hates fancy wedding food and will go for a more traditional option for his special day.
He says: '"Lucy and I have spoken about serving sausage and mash. I cannot stand when you go to a wedding and get fed tiny portions. I want everyone to have a good feed on my wedding day, so I plan on having several types of sausage, mash and gravy up for grabs. Every guest will have a Yorkshire pudding too!"
He undeniably prefers to stay at home with his feet up and for Christmas all Jon wants is a killer pair of slippers to make his nights in all the more comfy – confessing they are his favourite type of footwear.
Jon says: "The only thing I have asked for Christmas is a pair of slippers. You can get vented slippers with an open back and different styles – there is a slipper for every occasion. I plan on getting Lucy a pair of slippers for Christmas too – that way we can match!"
