The nationwide DareToBare campaign is being launched by leading online beauty retailer escentual.com for women across the UK to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer Care.

Breast cancer is the most common form or cancer with 55,000 women diagnosed each year, and just under 12,000 women die each year from the disease, and Breast Cancer Care provides a support network to help thousands of people find a way to live with, through and beyond breast cancer.

The campaign is trying to persuade women of all ages and walks of life to get sponsored to go to work, social activities or even a night out without their make-up on.

DareToBare runs throughout October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month and women can be sponsored to go without make-up for a day, a week or even the whole month.

You can sign up to get sponsored for #DareToBare or make a donation by clicking here and 100% of proceeds from the campaign go to charity.

Escentual.com Beauty Editor Emma Leslie said: “It’s a very simple step for any woman to take – just not to put on make-up. It’s easy to do but it’s a really strong public statement and it’s for a fantastic cause.”

“It might seem a bit strange that a company such as Escentual.com that sells cosmetics is actually asking women to stop using them for a day or two, or maybe even a whole month, but that’s how strongly we feel about this cause and we hope that with Dare to Bare we can really make a difference.”

To kick things off, Escentual will be donating £1 for the first 1,000 women who tweet their #DaretoBare photo to @BCCare and/or @escentualdotcom.

Luisa Zissman took the challenge

Several celebrities have already signed up to Dare to Bare and shared photos of themselves with no make up on.

Made In Chelsea star Binky Felstead, Apprentice runner up Luisa Zissman, Strictly Come Dancing star Kristina Rihanoff and Actress Roxanne Pallett all tweeted make-up free pictures in support of the campaign.

Actress Roxanne Pallett explained: “I don’t ever usually go out of the house without make-up on but I’ll Dare to Bare for Breast Cancer Care.”

“Every 10 minutes, another woman receives the terrifying news that she has breast cancer"

Andy Harris, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Breast Cancer Care said:

“Every 10 minutes, another woman receives the terrifying news that she has breast cancer. It’s vital we support the millions of women who face the devastating physical and emotional impact of living with the disease every day. But we couldn’t carry on our work without the generosity of the public.”

For the duration of the campaign, Escentual.com will be donating 10% of sales to Breast Cancer Care on 5 pink skincare products women can use to prep their skin before baring their make-up free face.

The products are:

Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water

Nuxe Gentle Toning Lotion with Rose Petals

Vichy Idealia Life Serum

Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Morning Eye Rescue

Vichy Idealia Smoothing and Illuminating Cream
