The 29-year-old singer released Cheryl Cole: My Story last year, and has now revealed that despite being a private person she wanted to set the record straight.
Speaking with a UK news website Cheryl admitted: ‘It was a tough decision. It was a battle with myself… because I am a very private person.’

Referring to the breakdown of her turbulent four-year marriage with 32-year-old Chelsea football player, Ashley Cole, she explained: ‘I was sick of reading lies, sick of reading misquotes. Enough was enough and it was time for me to put out my side of the story, and the truth.’
Cheryl and Ashley officially divorced back in 2010 after news of his infidelity surfaced.
The Geordie popstar said that she had no regrets about writing her autobiography and added, ‘I knew it was going to be frank and open. It was the best thing for me at that time. Just putting all the rumours to bed.’

Cheryl also credited her close friend – singer Will.i.am - as being the one who encouraged her to pursue a solo career away from Girls Aloud.
She said: ‘I hadn’t really considered it until Will planted the seed. He could see in me what I hadn’t seen yet.’
‘And I’ve learned a lot from him, he’s a very, very wise character. He’s been in the industry for a long, long time, so I trusted his instinct and opinion.’

The Under The Sun singer revealed last week that she had no immediate plans to get back into the recording studio, but said that she was not ready to hang up her microphone for good just yet.
‘No, not pop music. Music is my life, music is my passion, my first love, so that will always be part of what I’m doing. But I actually don’t have any plans right now,’ she confirmed.
